A gentle reminder from our Membership Secretary:
Subscriptions become due from 31st March 2016 for the 2016 - 2017 year. I have renewed about 130 members' subscriptions so far so there's around 100 2015-2016 members who have not yet renewed. Please note that the combination to the lock on the gate will be changed on 1st April 2016 after which only those who have renewed their membership will be allowed access.
I have been asked by several members if there is an alternative to paying by cheque as the use of cheques is becoming less common. For those of you who use on line banking, it is an easy thing to do to pay by direct bank transfer. All you need to know is the club's bank account number and sort code so you know where to sent the payment. In addition, you'll need to know what your membership number is so you can add a reference to your payment. This allows us to check where the money has come from. If you would like to pay this way, please contact the membership secretary, Paul Harding, to get this information.
Email him at: pnharding@gmail.com
Thanks
Paul
Our first "local" open shoot of the year was held at the Company of 60 club on 20th March. As usual there quite a few Ibex members there with a total of 5 medals coming our way.
Paul Cole picked up a silver in the gents AF with Grant Hazelton getting a bronze in the same class. Glenn Martin won a gold in the gents freestyle and the Nevilles shot well in the primitive - Andy getting a bronze in the gents and Carolyn getting a silver in the ladies.
STOP PRESS: After posting this, I've been told there were two other Ibex successes: Mike Davidson won gold in the gents unlimited and Soo Davidson won gold in the ladies unlimited. Put the fact that I left them out down to the reporter (ie. me) going senile!!
Note that Company of 60 have published the full results. To see them go to their web site by clicking the link on our "Downloads and Links" page.
Well done to all. Now for the big one next week at Ibex!!
A couple of reminders regarding out open shoot next Sunday.
Firstly, will all those not booked in to shoot please note that the courses will be closed to all except for the open shoot.
Secondly, please note that Sunday is the day after the clocks go forward so please don't be late (as was the case last year!!)
Over 20 members attended the annual AGM held on 6th March.
As Andy Reed is re-locating to Wales, a new chairman was needed. Stuart Oldman was proposed, seconded and voted in as the new chairman. Andy was thanked for his efforts over the last year.
2015 has been another successful year with three open shoots and the club championships being held. A team Sagittarius shoot was also held. Three open shoots and the club championships are also planned for 2016. We have been asked if we could host a 3DAUK shoot in October 2016 - something that is still under consideration.
The number of members has stayed reasonably stable with about 230 "on the books". Membership records are now maintained electronically to ease administrative tasks and a new web site set up to improve communication.
The club finances remain in a healthy state and are likely to remain so as no significant expenditure is planned for 2016.
Many thanks to Paul Murray for sending this photo to us. It seems that there will be a closure of the road at Fleet Ibex for drainage works from 1st March. Hopefully they will keep to their promise of only one midweek day.
Thanks to Adrian Shiner for submitting a shot by Stuart - deflected by the adjacent tree into the target,
You might also be interested in a photo from last week which shows quite clearly that even an arrow storm at a tricky target can leave it virtually unscathed!
Results of the October 2015 Club Championships have been located and can be downloaded on the "Shoot Results and Reports" page.
The AGM will be held on Sunday 6th March 2016 at the club house. We should be starting around 10:00hrs with tea and coffee being provided.
Apart from the usual business, there are two main items. Firstly, Andy has informed us that he has to stand down as Chairman as he is moving away from the area and so we will be looking for a new Chairman. Nominations (which will need to be seconded) please for anyone you think may be suitable. Secondly, there are a number of minor changes proposed to the club constitution. We will need the approval of the AGM to implement these.
Also, at this time of year, we need to renew our memberships. They come into effect from 1st April 2016 on which day the entry code on the gate combination lock will be changed. Will ALL members who wish to renew their membership please complete and submit an application form with the required payment to the Membership Secretary. Details are on the form.
The AGM notice, the proposed revised constitution and a membership application form have been sent out by post to all members on 10th February. Each individual members together with the principal contact for family members should receive copies soon. If any members think they have been missed out, inform the Membership Secretary who will send out another copy.

There's nothing that will more guarantee a laugh in Field Archery than the thud of an arrow hitting and sticking in a tree followed by cries of "Message for Robin!!"
Thanks to Adrian Candey who sent me the attached photo of Terry's trick shot. Not sure where or when but it's pretty typical.
Actually, I think I can beat that from a photo only last week. My long shot at the rhino was (to say the least) a little high with the result we had to retrieve it from the tree.
Just as well we have friends to climb trees for us!

The News section of any web site is only as good as the information received. If you would like to report on any function, send out a plea for help, inform members about upcoming events, tell people about items for sale etc. please send details to the Membership Secretary / Webmaster.
Particularly welcome are photographs which can be added to the News section or, if there are enough, be saved in the Photo Gallery page.
Please get in touch - it gets boring making up things myself!
