Over 50 of our members turned up for our 2016 Club Championships.
Despite the change to GMT the night before more or less everyone turned up on time and we got out on the course at about 09:30hrs.
The course setters had put out 20 3-D targets - each with a green and a yellow peg with the intention being that we should shoot round the course twice - first time using the green pegs and second time using the yellow pegs. A maximum of two arrows from each peg were allowed in order to speed up events so we could finish before it got dark.
The day was a great success with everyone apparently enjoying the event. It was good to see several new members - some of whom were competing in their first competition.
Prizes were awarded for places in all the NFAS shooting classes represented together with a handicap competition award for an overall winner. The handicaps were calculated on the basis of the results of our open shoots this year with points being added to individual scores depending on their class. It is almost impossible to come up with a handicap system that takes all factors into consideration but the fact that the top 3 archers on a handicap basis come from 3 different classes seems to indicate we got it about right.
The overall winner on handicap was Georgie Walton shooting Ladies Barebow (see below) followed by Bree Jenkins (Ladies AFB) and Glenn Martin (Gents Freestyle).
Within the individual classes, the most noteworthy performance was probably that by Lara Evans who managed 650 points in the Under 12 Girls Bow Hunter class - well done Lara.
Full results have been posted in the "Shoot Results and Reports" page with a few photographs being posted in the "Photo Galleries" page.
